There are a variety of items which fall under the category of bulk waste. It is important to know, understand and practice the bulk waste guidelines that ensure that you’re discarding bulk waste appropriately.  The term “bulk waste” is used to describe waste that is too large to be collected by regular a waste collection. However, bulk waste can often be picked up from streets and pavement areas. A fee is usually associated with this kind of collection. Here are some items that you can place on the side of the road for bulk waste collection.

Household Furniture

There is a maximum of two pieces allowed per collection, but this is an easy way to properly dispose of bulk waste. Items such as wooden chairs, bureaus, tables and even mattresses are allowed for household furniture bulk waste.


The maximum number for bulk waste collection of tires is four, regardless of the size. However, large truck tires are not allowed. In addition, the tires must have their metal rims removed.


Major appliances can also be put on the side of the road for pickup. However, items such as refrigerators, freezers, and dehumidifiers may come with a $10 environmental charge per item. The person who removes the items will take note and bill you separately.


The maximum length of metal for bulk waste disposal is eight feet, and the maximum weight is 50 lbs. per piece.

Scrap Wood

The wood must be stacked neatly, and should not exceed 4 feet in width, 8 feet in length and 3 feet in height.
